Classic Bike salutes the heroes of the Olympics of motorcycle competition, the International Six Day Trial, in its March issue. The magazine looks at five of the machines that will feature in the special ISDT display planned for the world-famous Sammy Miller Museum: 1956 Royal Enfield Bullet, 1958 Ariel HT5, 1964 Greeves Challenger, 1971 Cheney Triumph T100C and 1977 Jawa Type 654, four of which are genuine ISDT bikes and two are gold medal winners.
In the workshop section of the magazine, Rick Parkington cracks on with the rebuild of a Triumph 3T project that also has a distinct ISDT style, while there’s more British bike history with the tales of the John Tickle Manx Norton and AJS Big Port, both of which are test ridden.
But it’s not all British-based stuff – there’s are also the story of an Austrian mountain-top classic bike museum rebuilt after a devastating fire, a review of a book on the heyday of Moto Guzzi racers and even a bonkers supercharged 10-cylinder two-stroke special created by a dedicated builder from the Czech Republic. Crazy or inspired – read the story and make your own judgement…
